The GIBSON Custom Shop Murphy Lab 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue solidbody electric guitar (LPR57LADBDGNH1) is part of the Murphy Lab collection inaugurated in 2021, for which a dedicated area has been created in the Custom Shop.

A mythical reissue
The Murphy Lab 1957 Goldtop is an iconic reissue designed to perfectly reproduce the aesthetic and sonic characteristics of a Les Paul from the late '50s. Thanks to Tom Murphy's expertise, each instrument benefits from a unique and authentic aging process.
Mastery of aging
Each Murphy Lab luthier has been personally trained by Tom Murphy to master the natural aging techniques of the nitrocellulose finish. The result: a guitar that looks as if it has elegantly weathered the decades.
Traditional "Hot Hide Glue
Used in the '50s, this protein glue has now been revived to provide better vibration transmission, as well as to facilitate maintenance and repairs.
Vintage nitrocellulose finish
The fine, porous finish contributes to the natural breathing of the wood, essential for optimal vibrations. It gives the instrument a lively, evolving sound.
Optimized maintenance
As the varnish is sensitive, we recommend the use of Hercules stands with non-abrasive foams, as well as Gibson's Vintage Restoration Kit for safe, high-performance cleaning.
A stage-ready instrument
Despite its vintage look, this guitar is perfectly suited to both stage and studio, offering modern playability combined with the authenticity of the '50s.
